Grids: making the Vortex site

« Ð ð

Sketch out another couple of HTML boxes, one 25 points wide and starting from the left edge, the other starting at the 75 point gridline and going to the right of the page. Give them a different colour here we’ve used another grey from the Web-safe palette. Next, sketch a graphic box to fit between the two new HTML boxes. The grid helps by snapping objects neatly to the lines.

Once you’ve drawn the graphic box, choose Import from the File menu (command-e) to import a graphic. Freeway can read native Photoshop and Illustrator files, plus TIFF, EPS and PICT, as well as GIF and JPEG if necessary, although these should be imported with the Pass-through box checked in the Import dialog box. Once the image is in place, you can drag it around within the box to crop it as you want, but here our Photoshop image was already 50 x 60 pixels.
